This session was presented on April 5, 2019, as the sixth and final session in this monthly workforce professional development series for PCA and HCCN teams. Allison Abayasekara, VP of Training & Programs at ACU, lead the discussion of key HR metrics for health centers to understand, and how PCA and HCCN teams can use this information to help their health centers improve. Allison was joined by Joni Adamson, Manager of Recruitment & Workforce Development at the Missouri Primary Care Association who shared her experience with collecting turnover data from health centers in her state.

This session was presented on March 7, 2019, as the fifth session in this monthly workforce professional development series for PCA and HCCN teams. Craig Kennedy, Executive Director of the STAR² Center’s parent organization the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved, provided an overview of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) and the Health Professional Shortage Area designations that guide federal workforce resources. Lourdes Montéz of the Arizona Alliance For Community Health Centers provided an update on what her organization is doing to recruit, retain, and support NHSC members in Arizona.

In this 2017 presentation, HOP addressed organizational self-care – a broad organizational approach to foster a healthy and supportive work environment that can reduce burnout and improve staff satisfaction and retention. The presenters demonstrated the importance of organizational self-care for the sustainability of health centers, explained concepts around compassion fatigue and burnout, and proposed strategies to support organizations in establishing a culture of self-care.
This session was presented on February 7, 2019, as the fourth session in this monthly workforce professional development series for PCA and HCCN teams. The STAR² Center’s Allison Abayasekara gave an overview of the various National Cooperative Agreements that are available to collaborate with PCA and HCCN teams. Allison was joined by Amanda Schiessl of CHC, Inc. who covered CHC, Inc’s workforce NCA activities.
