Chief Workforce Officer Core Competencies

The Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) STAR² Center, in partnership with the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), have updated the Chief Workforce Officer (CWO) Core Competencies to include Behavioral Examples. These Behavioral Examples provide actionable examples that outline the scope of the CWO role. While CWOs may go by different names, the role they play cannot be understated as it is crucial to have a strategic thinker at the leadership level that is solely focused on advancing workforce initiatives. This timely and relevant resource assists community health centers (CHCs) and primary care associations (PCAs) to recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain workforce leaders who are strategic, capable, and highly effective at meeting the complex needs of the CHC workforce.
