Employee-Focused Career Pathways: Supporting the Full Scope of Talent in the Mental Health Workforce

When thinking about the mental health workforce, the titles of “therapist,” “counselor,” or “case manager” usually come to mind, but the skills and training of these professionals extends far beyond the therapeutic setting. Building career pathways for the mental health workforce—both within the Behavioral Health Department and beyond—not only supports your health center’s retention strategies, but also helps to develop an engaged and satisfied workforce. This webinar will provide you with knowledge, tips, and tools to help you think about starting or expanding the career pathway opportunities provided at your health center. With a specific focus on the mental health workforce, you will also learn more about the role of behavioral health providers and their multifaceted skills. Join the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) and its STAR² Center team on February 20, 2024 from 2-3 PM EST to learn more about the advancement opportunities that attract and retain mission-driven mental health practitioners and support staff.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the importance of developing career pathways as part of a health center’s retention plan for their mental health workforce.
  • Understand the different types of mental health providers and their multifaceted training and skill sets.
  • Examine opportunities for career advancement for the mental health workforce that extends beyond a health center’s Behavioral Health Department.
