Role of Geography and Nurse Practitioner Scope-of-Practice in Efforts to Expand Primary Care System Capacity
Little is known about the geographic distribution of the overall primary care workforce that includes both physician and nonphysician clinicians—particularly in areas with restrictive nurse practitioner scope-of-practice laws and where there are relatively large numbers of uninsured. Vanderbilt University Assistant Professor, John Graves, PhD will focus on new research investigating how geographic accessibility to primary care clinicians (PCCs) differs across urban and rural areas, and how accessibility differs across states with more or less restrictive scope-of-practice laws.
