Good morning all! In preparation for next week’s presentation, please answer the following couple of questions:
What are your training needs related to implementing Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) standards at your health center/organization?

    • Anonymous

Previous survey responses include general information on CLAS for staff and providers; tools and resources to implement CLAS trainings, skills for staff to adapt to cultural differences, and building/improving policies and procedures.

    • Freda,

We really enjoyed your presentation last week and all you are accomplishing at Central City Concern. After reviewing your presentation slides and discussion among ourselves at RCCHC in Ahoskie, NC we had a couple of questions for you.

      1) Would you be able to share what types of data you have used in the past or currently to drive decisions/programs around equity and inclusion? Do you use data from OCHIN specifically to drive what programs your teams focus on?

      2) What data / benchmarks do you use to determine the effectiveness of your programs? What benchmarks do you use to report to the board on effectiveness of the program overall as well as individual programs?

        Hi Janelle,

I am going to pass these questions along to Freda and will be sure to share her answers with you!

        • Thanks Suzanne. I had emailed them to her but wanted to put in the discussion group as well so she could share with everyone.

    • Hi, Everyone!

Looking forward to engaging with all of you for our next Learning Collaborative session, happening on Thursday, October 10th!

From this session, participants will be able to walk away with the following:

      1. Define the framework and core principles of cultural humility and its relation to cultural competence
      2. Discuss key strategies to increase awareness and enhance skills to work across diverse cultures and navigate barriers
      3. Apply the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) framework to advance health equity

Feel free to comment here with your thoughts and/or questions!

      Many thanks,
      Joe

P.S. I’m uploading a resource that we’ll be reviewing together: “National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in Health and Health Care” (see attached file). You’re more than welcome to take a peak at it!

    • Hi All, MHC Healthcare’s first priority CLAS training needs focus on leadership: C-Suite first, Directors second, and go from there.
